Since we talked about ending the season of hibernation in Monday’s blog post I want to talk about what’s on my creative radar for this season of awakening. I always think it’s a good idea to look forward and think about what you want to accomplish, then order them in priority and work towards them for the remainder of the year. If you don’t look to where you’re going, how will you ever get there?
Keeping your intentions short and sweet is essential in this scanning phase of planning. I also like to break my projects up into ongoing projects and those with a firmer timeline, which look more like goal setting, but without the action plan to back them up yet.
I think the way we talk about our plans says a lot about our commitment level to them as well as the motivation for completing them. Language matters! Whether you’re voicing them to others, or making a list just for yourself, the way you talk about these plans and projects impact your intention with them and your ability to follow through.
Ongoing:
Currently on my creative radar I have the Creating Confidently blog, of course!, and the instagram account. These are the two constant creative projects in my life, though this year I have no plans to scale back either one, for the time being.
I plan to completely draft the world and magic system for my passion project - a fantasy novel that has been taking shape and morphing over the last decade.
I want to try to enter at least one writing contest this year for the experience and continue writing posts for my company to further sharpen my blog writing.
I am beginning to look into and develop ideas for starting a podcast adjacent to Creating Confidently, but am still working out what that could look like.
Time Sensitive:
I have a goal to finish recital choreography for my three classes by the beginning of May. We are currently halfway through the process with all three classes, so we should be able to meet this goal!
I am longing to get back to my first draft manuscript of a Christmas romance novel I finished this past year, and write the second draft by May.
I will also be participating in NaNoWriMo 2023 with intent this year and try to draft one of three novels in another series I have concocted and want to dig into.
If you’re thinking about your creative awakening for this spring thaw, share your upcoming projects in the comments!
I had a plan to rerelease a three book series under my own self-publishing control this spring, with the last one coming out in May. I am on track for that. The first two launched without a hitch and the third looks like it'll go well. I am thrilled with this, because the books are set in dance world and hopefully, showcase the very best aspects of the studio where my kid basically grew up in the background of the romance.
I also planned to get the fourth book of my Bed and Breakfast series out in June, and that also looks like it's on track. I have a plan to write a co-written book in June, so as long…
